Designed on a steeply sloping block in Noarlunga Downs we opted to align the direction of the house with the natural contours of the site to minimize the amount of cut and fill required on the steeply sloping block. The result is a design that blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
The house has been partially embedded into the site, providing protection against strong gully breezes and creating a house with an unassuming presence on the streetscape. As the land drops away, the house opens up to offer breathtaking views of the Onkaparinga River and the ocean beyond.
To frame these stunning views, a series of punched window frames have been strategically placed, while retractable screens will shield the interior from harsh sunlight. This design solution strikes the perfect balance between showcasing the natural beauty of the location while also providing necessary functionality and protection from the elements.
